About
Chapter 2 is a community and dating app built by widows, for widows and widowers.
As widows we understand the shock, grief and heartache you have experienced in losing your life partner and we also recognise the isolation and challenges of trying to navigate your future and find some solace. This is why we have created Chapter 2.
By widows we mean anyone who has lost a life partner regardless of marital status or sexual preference, we use the term widow to refer to women, men and those who identify as non-binary.
What is Chapter 2?
Chapter 2 can mean different things to different people, be that friendship, companionship, support, dating or physical comfort.
Using mainstream friendship and dating apps can be distressing and finding understanding is a little like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We believe widows and widowers are uniquely placed to understand each other and will respect the others need to grieve, remember and mourn what has gone before whilst making steps forward.
Founded by Nicky Wake, Chapter 2 is also part funded by two other widows, with the support of many more. We all want to be a part of trying to help you navigate your loss and find comfort and hope for the future.
About the platform
Chapter 2 is a dedicated app and website exclusively for widows and widowers, with community, forum, blog and advice features.
The platform is a safe and secure space. Only open to widows and widowers, we recognise that as widows we can be vulnerable and so the platform has a rigorous sign-up process, all profiles are vetted and users can report any suspicious activity, messages or behaviour.
We acknowledge that many of our users will not have dated for a long time and may never have dated online before. We are here to help you take those tentative steps forward in a safe manner, see our safety dating advice and tips for guidance. It goes without saying that all data is stored securely and confidential, you choose what you share on your profile. The safety of our community is paramount.
We also run some face-to-face events and trips for Chapter 2 members. We do hope you can join us at these events.
If you can, please also help raise awareness of the platform with any widows or widowers you know. We genuinely want to create the world’s best community, dating and friendship platform dedicated all who have suffered loss. We all deserve to find some happiness and joy. About our founder, Nicky
Nicky lost her beloved husband and soulmate Andy Wake in 2020 after a long illness.
After time had passed, she eventually made the decision to start dating again and very quickly found the process on mainstream apps a depressing, frustrating and soul-destroying experience. Needless to say, she didn’t find a Chapter 2 and knew there had to be a better way. Nicky was blown away by the sense of community, understanding and support within the widow community online and so she created Chapter 2.

Pricing
Chapter 2 ‘Basic Access’ is completely free, with the option to upgrade to ‘Premium Access‘.
We have not, and would never take any card details at sign up unless you choose to upgrade. You are in control by selecting either our Premium Access subscription, or signing up as a free member.

Please note once upgraded, your card will be automatically charged a renewal at the end of the subscription cycle, however you can choose to cancel your renewal online at anytime.
